Top 10 Best Reasons to Travel Solo

10. You can be totally selfish and do whatever you want, without having to compromise with someone else, for the entire trip.

9. You can be whoever you want to be on the road. I’m not talking about aliases, here. I mean that in our everyday lives, we tend to get in a rut. Sometimes we’re afraid to try new things for fear we’ll look silly in front of people who know us.  Solo travelers don’t have to worry about that on the road. Who cares if you make a fool of yourself singing in a karaoke bar? You’ll never see these people again! Live it up!

8. Humans are more observant of their surroundings when alone, without a companion to distract them with conversation. Solo travel will allow you to soak up so many more details—and you’ll have more time to record them in a journal or in photographs.

7. You can spend as much or as little money on the trip as you want, without having to accommodate someone else’s budget or keep up with the Joneses.

6. No travel companion to keep you awake with their snoring, fight with about silly little things, or ruin your trip.

5. It’s easier to meet new people when you travel alone, since people find solo travelers more approachable. Just be sure to smile.

4. If you meet someone interesting you want to spend time with, you can, without having to worry about neglecting your travel companion.

3. It’s easier to snag a last-minute airline seat or show ticket when you travel solo, because you don’t have to worry about getting two seats together.

2. The sense of empowerment that comes with traveling to a strange place alone can be intoxicating. Once you’ve had some successful solo travels, you will feel like you can do anything.

And the number one best reason to travel solo. . . .

1. You’re not at home wishing you were on the trip of a lifetime, you’re out there, seeing the world!

  2. These are some awesome ideas for solo travel, but let me add some.
Why travel alone? I think traveling alone is wonderful because you're more likely to socialize with local people, and it's easier to learn the local language of the country you're visiting.
